Your information

Take Part in Surveys specialises in hosting online research Panels. The privacy and security of your information is paramount to us. When you register for Take Part in Surveys, we ask for basic personal (e.g. email, name) and demographic information about you. We also ask information about your purchasing habits and attitudes towards purchasing consumer products. We ask for this profiling information to help us select you for invitation to relevant surveys and conduct relevant analysis on survey results. Your registration survey profile information is displayed on your Member Page.

Sometimes you will be re-asked questions about basic personal details at the beginning of surveys you are invited to complete. In such cases this information is for the benefit of the party hosting the survey and not for our records.

In addition to this we may store information that indicates from where you found Take Part in Surveys. For example – whether you clicked through a feature on a newsletter or a link on a website.

Any data you provide us with during the registration process for Take Part in Surveys and subsequent surveys will NOT be passed to 3rd parties.

In some cases a 3rd party organisation may ask for your email and/or address to do some follow-up research or send you a trial product. The only way they will be able to obtain these if by asking you directly in the survey and making clear what the information is used for. You will never have to give these details if you do not want to.

Take Part in Research follows the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR. We undertake all research in accordance with the Market Research Society Code of Conduct, and ESOMAR guidelines. Your information will never be used to market commercial products and services to you.

Contacting Children

If we seek to interview anyone under the age of 16, we will only ever do this by asking the permission of the parent in the survey invitation. We do not knowingly invite under-16s to be part of the Panel.

Take Part in Surveys check the content of all surveys panel members are invited to, to ensure the content is appropriate for those who are asked to take them.

Cookies

As a panel member, you will be sent survey invitations. Once you click on the survey link within an invitation a ‘cookie’ will be sent to your computer. A cookie is a small data file that identifies you as a unique user. We use cookies only to make sure you get your incentive payments for surveys, quality control, and to prevent repeat surveying. You can configure your browser to notify you when cookies are being placed on your computer. You can also delete cookies by adjusting your browser settings. Take Part in Surveys will not disclose its cookies to third parties unless we have to as required by a valid legal process.

Completing Surveys

Should you register and be accepted as a member, you will be sent surveys by e-mail, and may be invited to participate in other surveys if you have indicated you would be willing to participate in them (e.g. SMS text surveys, online focus groups). Members can indicate how many surveys they would like to receive per month by completing the relevant question in their personal profile on the member page. Members are free to complete as many or as few surveys they wish and can withdraw from a survey without completing with the only consequence being that they will not get the incentive from that survey (this is only applicable if and when there is a direct incentive for completing a survey – for example entry into a competition to win iPods in return for registering for the panel). For exceptions to this see sections ‘Rewards’ and ‘Termination’ below.

Accuracy of Information

The accuracy and integrity of the surveys and data we collect is reliant on the honesty of our registered members in matters such as the personal information they provide in respect of their accounts and their responses to questions in surveys. We will close the account(s), without notice, of any member who, we believe, has created duplicate accounts, attempts to answer the same survey more than once using different names and/or email addresses, knowingly provides false information, or provides information carelessly or incompletely.

For the avoidance of doubt, any member found contravening these terms will be prevented indefinitely from becoming a member of any online panel managed by Take Part in Surveys.

Rewards

All rewards offered for completing surveys are clearly stated in the survey invitation email. If a survey reward is a prize draw entry, a link to the prize draw rules provided in the survey or survey invite.

Any payments to members will be agreed in advance in the survey invitation, and will be credited into the members Take Part in Surveys account, viewable through logging in on the member page. The account balance is redeemable through PayPal only. In order to redeem the awards through PayPal, the panel member must have a PayPal account set-up which is linked to the same email address used to register for Take Part in Surveys. Take Part in Surveys shall not be obliged to transfer any payment into the PayPal account of a panel member:

• whose balance in their Take Part in Surveys account does not reach the threshold amount of £10;
• who does not respond to any survey requests within a 9 month period and whose balance has not reached the level of at least £10;
• should you not respond to any survey requests in a 9 month period. At the end of this 9 month period we reserve the right to reset the balance of your account to zero;
• who terminates their membership of Take Part in Surveys prior to the balance of their account reaching the level of at least £4.

Where we pay money to members, and such rewards are normally subject to taxation, all such costs are the sole responsibility of the person receiving money. We will not be held liable for any taxation, or related costs, resulting from any payments made to members, and you indemnify us fully against such liability.

Termination

You may cease to be a member of the Panel at any time by logging into your Member Page and unregistering, in which case your account balance and registration information will be deleted.

While members are free to complete as many or as few surveys they wish, if they do not participate in any surveys over a period of 9 months, Take Part in Surveys reserve the right to cancel membership, having established that the member is no longer an active member of the Panel.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify Take Part in Surveys in respect of any and all claims, costs, losses, expenses and liabilities that Take Part in Surveys may incur arising out of:

• any information posted by you; or
• any software you use in connection with posting such information in clause (i) or
• any unauthorised disclosure of confidential information by you.

The Website

Although our websites and panels are always rigorously tested, Roots Research Ltd does not warrant that this website will operate uninterrupted or error/virus free.

Notification of Changes

Roots Research reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy/Terms and Conditions statement at any time. If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you either here, by email, or by means of a notice on our home page.
